Maybelline Crown Jewels Trio

Good morning! And it's the weekend. Woo!!! Time to relax, recharge, and play. I promised to do a Glamour Doll Eyes review, as well as owe you some Jordana swatches.I will have these up by the end of this weekend.
Still awaiting my package from Antoinette's Revolution Cosmetics, so another Indie brand review coming your way!

This is my look for work today. I used a Maybelline Trio called "Crown Jewels." The colors in the palette are soft and warm, with lots of sparkle in the sun. It's a great combo for people with Hazel eyes. There is a pinkish shade, a mauve color, and a color I find hard to describe, I guess I would call it a frosty petal champagne shade. LoL.
This mini-palette makes it a no-brainer to apply; the wors "lid", "crease" and  "browbone" are imprinted right on the shadows.
I like this set for work and for an everyday, casual look.
However, I do find that I have to be aggressive with the picking-up and application of the product to get the pigment I really want.
It's a nice trio to keep in the purse in case of on-the-go primping or a beauty emergency, but if you are someone who is more experienced with makeup, this may be a little too basic and color-starved.
Overall, I do like this product, I just wish the colors picked up easier. Tip: definitely throw down a base before applying to bring the colors up.

Spring Fling

I put these colors together to go with a specific dress. I like my makeup and outfit to coordinate, so some days I dress for to match my face, while other days I do my face and find clothes to match!
We were out camping in Lotus, California, and being me, I went ahead and lugged my two filled-to-the-brim train cases of goods with me. I had my portable mirror and set out to work in the sunlight. I love doing my makeup outside, I find it the most exacting.

Yes, I know, heavy on the blush. I like my cheeks bright pink

Maybelline Eye Studio Eyeliner

Maybelliene Eye Studio Eyeliner (blackest black)

I love wearing eyeliner and wear it everyday if time allows. My two staples in life are eyeliner and lip gloss. However, for some reason, my eyelids run hot. almost every stick eyeliner I purchase ends up smearing and by the end of the day I look like a sleep-deprived raccoon. This has forced me to switch over to things like liquid eyeliners that set after application. I still, however, find that unintentionally rubbing my eyes or teary moments (they happen!) leave me looking somewhat of a mess.
Thank goodness makeup companies push out tons of products and now there are pots of eyeliner colors that are applied with a brush. They come in a small pot, like the Maybelline eye studio and are a very thick creme texture. Armed with a nifty eye liner brush they give you. I am able to quickly, very quickly, and accurately draw eyeliner across my lash line. I love this because there is no waiting with one eye open like liquid eye liner, and the creme seems to instantly bond with my skin and stay there. I can wear this all day long, sweating at my coffee job, or nap with my baby in the day and still look put together. Even when I wake up in the morning, having again neglected to take my makeup off, I look decent. It easily washes off with soap and water and I never get the left over black bags under my eyes look.

I have also tried Loreal's HIP brand eyeliners and I was also impressed with the outcome. Loreal's, however, comes with three different colors. Maybellienes brush is superior and I would recommend it if you want to do more design like cat eyes or have better control of the thickness as Maybelliene's brush is tapered.
The drawbacks, which wont hinder me from the purchase of this product in the future, is that the pot will dry out at around the 3 month mark. If you use this everyday then you will get your moneys worth. i also suggest finding and buying brush cleaner, which I don't have. the bristles tend to get sticky and the makeup crumbles a little on it just sitting in the open air. I attempt to wash mine every once in a while but brush cleaner would be ideal.
Overall I am happy with this product!  --ErthBlu

Editor's note: This product shows up on the list of companies that tests on animals. The prior post gave links to companies that test on animals as well as others who do not.
I personally use this eyeliner every day as well, I find the ease of application and steady wear a huge plus. The fact that it is readily available and affordable (around $7 bucks) makes this product a good beauty store find.
However, in support of animal-friendly companies, we will be finding a similar product from an animal-friendly company to review soon. :-)

Animal Friendly!

Curious as to which companies DO and which companies DO NOT test on animals?
Check it out!

Copper Glam

A look I did on my girlfriend recently. I used a copper color on the lids and an iridescent shine powder under the brows. I lined her lower lashes with a blue. I would normally not think to use these colors together on myself, but her rich, deep brown eyes were my inspiration. When you apply makeup on other people, you really get to create things you wouldn't normally come up. New palettes are fun!! And my girlfriend loves when I do her eyes. It's a win-win!

Revlon ColorStay Overtime

I love Grocery Outlet! I found two Revlon ColorStay Overtime shades for $1.99 each, so I thought I would give it a try. I later checked at Kmart to make sure I was not reviewing something that discontinued, and I was able to find both colors still on the market. For 9 something a piece! Grocery Outlet is one of those places where you can't count on finding a particular product at a particular price, so grab it if you see it.

I tried "Eternally tan" and "True Chocolate".  Both colors were very similar, with the chocolate being pretty much a richer, darker version of the tan. They both have reddish undertones, but I love these colors because they are truly wearable. I tend to shy away from lipsticks all together for two reasons; sometimes it makes me look clown-like and my husband HATES kissing lip product. Well, here is something that overrides both problems with ease.
This lip color claims to last 12+ hours. I applied in the morning and by evening, I still had a lip stain that was noticeable and pleasant. Unlike many long-last products, I have yet to find my lips dried out and cakey. The product applies on smooth and stays. The other side of the applicator wand comes with a clear gloss for shiny lips. Some of us have a gloss-applying obsession, so you get the best of both worlds; rich color and shine.
I can kiss my husband without leaving him looking like a drag queen and I get to have my look a little more pulled together for the day with minimal effort.
I would love to find a frosty pink in this line, if I end up finding an purchasing another shade, I will update my post.
This lip color is a go! Can't wait to wear it for a care-free night of gorgeous lips.
